About the Role

New Mexico Donor Services seeks an experienced Organ Recovery Surgeon to lead our clinical operations in Albuquerque, NM. This key position requires strong leadership skills, surgical expertise, and a commitment to excellence in organ donation.

Responsibilities

  • Organ Procurement: Collaborate with hospital staff to surgically recover abdominal organs (liver, kidney, pancreas, small bowel) for transplantation and research.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to OPO staff and hospital personnel involved in the donation process.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to CMS and UNOS regulations, AOPO standards, and other medical/legal requirements.
  • Clinical Expertise: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in organ recovery and transplantation.

Qualifications

  • A Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified in general surgery with current licensure.
  • 5+ years of experience in organ recovery and transplantation, medical management of organ donors, and/or critical care.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
