Job Summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a PRN Pharmacist to work as needed during facility hours and on call. The facility is open Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm and on call after hours and weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Verify physician orders for medications using the pharmacy information system, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
  • Supervise Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant and efficient operations, providing guidance on complex prescriptions and pharmacy automation systems.
  • Adjust dosages based on established protocols, considering patient condition and other medications being used.
  • Educate patients on proper medication use and expected effects, particularly for multiple medications or new regimens.
  • Manage narcotics and inventory control, including documentation and completion of checklists.
  • Collaborate with Nurses and Physicians to verify orders and obtain additional information.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Director in maintaining accreditation and implementing operational changes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or PharmD.
  • Good standing licensed Pharmacist in the state of Texas.
  • IV certification or ability to obtain.
  • Prior inpatient/hospital experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Computer savvy to learn and perform successful operation of multiple pharmacy information systems.
