Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer II to join our team at the Maryland Department of Transportation. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from construction engineering to infrastructure management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the review and analysis of construction change orders, prior approvals, and administrator memorandums for completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicate with SHA District construction staff and integrate these items into the eConstruction platforms.
  • Review and analyze construction contract claim submittals for correct format and completeness.
  • Determine the basis for the claim in compliance with contract specifications/provisions and COMAR regulations/laws.
  • Justify whether compensation should be provided to the contractors.
  • Participate in SHA standard and specification updates.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience in professional engineering.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of contract specifications and provisions.
  • Excellent internal/external customer service abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including comprehensive experience using Microsoft Suite.
  • Problem solving and decision-making abilities.
