Stantec is a leading integrated design firm that is passionate about creating sustainable and innovative designs for the built environment. We are seeking a highly skilled Architectural Design Professional to join our team in Berkley, where you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across multiple sectors, including education, multi-family housing, workplace, civic, and research and development.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of integrated design proposals and coordinate building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
- Implement sustainable design principles into the design and environment, and conceptualize a building design from both a functional and aesthetic perspective.
- Participate in design critiques and pin-ups, and interpret and apply building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases, including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.
- Evaluate and select building systems and materials, and assist in the preparation of project specifications.
- Participate in constructability review, bidding and negotiation phase, and prepare addenda.
- Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
- Lead on-site, virtual, and in-office project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner, contractor, and sub-contractors.
- Participate in on-site or virtual client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects, and inspire creativity, critical thought, and design excellence both internally and externally.
- Professional degree in Architecture or related field is required.
- Registered Architect is preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry-associated standards.
- Ability to engage in creative and critical thought, and to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
- Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Newforma, and recent modeling software.
This is a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work is expected and may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
