Job Title: Maintenance Yard Worker
Reports to: Manager Yard Maintenance and Assistant Manager Yard Maintenance
FLSA Status: Hourly, Ag Exempt
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Yard Worker is responsible for assisting in various capacities around the yard department, including pen maintenance, groundskeeping, painting, cleaning, and tank washing/repair. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Identify pens to be cleaned through communication with management and receiving personnel.
- Maintain road surfaces, bunk pads, pens, and alleys by filling in holes, controlling dust, and removing accumulated manure; take care to leave hard pack intact while also maintaining pen slope and grade; operate heavy equipment.
- Help ensure a continuous supply of freshwater to cattle by performing repairs to the water systems and tanks.
- Mow grass/weeds and sweep bunks by operating tractor/mower; replace broken cable, clips, or fence; paint or re-paint pens, building, etc...
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing servicing requirements specified by the manager (may include: fueling, checking fluid levels, checking filters, greasing, and cleaning equipment).
- Comply with all applicable safety rules and policies.
- Valid driver's license.
- Heavy Equipment Operator.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Expected to demonstrate understanding of Company policies, adapt to changes in the work environment, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, observe safety and security procedures, and report potentially unsafe conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Occasionally to frequently this job will require lifting, push/pull, carry, bend, stoop, crawl, climb, stand, sit, kneel/squat, twisting, walking, running, grasping, squeezing, reaching, turning. Have the agility to walk through cattle pens and move swiftly if conditions warrant, walking on uneven surfaces and over fences. Must complete work in all weather conditions.
