Unit Clerk/Care Team Technician

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, a 273-bed acute care facility, seeks a highly skilled Unit Clerk/Care Team Technician to join its team. As a key member of the nursing unit, this individual will be responsible for assisting with the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activities occurring in the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform data collection accurately and promptly.
  • Recognize variances in patient condition and report promptly.
  • Follow the plan of care and recommend changes to meet the ongoing needs of the patient.
  • Provide care that is related to the patient's needs and well-being.
  • Participate in shift report, as a member of the team, to meet the individual needs of the patient.
  • Document data collection, tasks performed, and patient response accurately and appropriately.
  • Report abnormal data findings immediately.
  • Provide blood glucose monitoring of patients and notify nursing of results.
  • Provide for monitoring of patients receiving blood or blood components.
  • Provide for monitoring of patients on fall precautions.
  • Provide interventions within scope of practice (including, but not limited to, simple dressing changes, vital signs, I&O, foley catheter insertion/discontinuation/care, feedings, treatments, specimen collection, linen changes, activities of daily living, turning, and attending to hygiene needs of patients).
  • Apply, replace, and remove monitoring electrodes and telemetry packs as needed.
  • Assist with the preparation of patients for procedures.
  • Assist with transporting of patients within the hospital.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with various patient categories such as emergent and non-emergent.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of unit supplies.
  • Utilize all communication systems correctly (pagers, call system, telephone).
  • Report all identified problems to the Clinical Supervisor and/or Manager.
  • Report off to the Clinical Supervisor when leaving the unit.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the medical record.
  • Entry of patient transfers/discharges into computer system within 15 minutes of actual transfer/discharge.
  • Maintain universal chart order.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
  • Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Current CNA certification preferred.
  • BLS certification.
  • Basic PC knowledge and medical terminology.
