Position Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist I is responsible for conducting laboratory analyses on clinical samples in accordance with established protocols. Key responsibilities include specimen processing, executing moderate to complex analytical tests, and ensuring quality assurance and control measures are in place. This role involves meticulous documentation of all activities under the supervision of the Laboratory Medical Director, as well as identifying and resolving issues through effective laboratory practices.

Training Schedule: Standard hours for initial training.

Core Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Conduct laboratory tests and analyses following the laboratory's standard operating procedures.
  • Implement, review, and document quality control measures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Prepare necessary reagents for testing.
  • Identify and address basic issues affecting test outcomes.
  • Review and interpret patient results as required.
  • Assist in training new laboratory staff on existing and new protocols.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of laboratory supplies for daily operations.
  • Engage in testing and validation of new laboratory technologies and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, addressing any concerns that may impact test results or safety.
  • Balance daily testing demands with project responsibilities efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Participate in quality assurance and preparation for inspections.
  • Incorporate feedback professionally.
  • Engage in ongoing education and team meetings, taking responsibility for personal development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent training and experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laboratory regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in molecular testing.
