Crime Underwriter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Crime Underwriter to join our team at Tokio Marine HCC. As a Crime Underwriter, you will play a critical role in analyzing risk, exposure, loss, and coverage information for group and individual risk accounts. Your primary responsibility will be to structure and price programs that are financially efficient for the insured and profitable for the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documentation to classify and assess risks.
  • Communicate and build relationships with brokers and other outside contacts.
  • Create and maintain all underwriting documentation according to procedures and other departmental guidelines.
Performance Objectives:
  • Gain understanding of the underwriting process within the first 30 days.
  • Show critical thinking skills by finding solutions to write the business and satisfy both the client and the risk-taker within the first 60 days.
  • Review and quote less complicated risks with little oversight needed within the first 90 days.
  • Understand more complex risks within the first 6 months.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Exemplary relationship skills.
  • Driven - take on the challenge of problem-solving complex underwriting challenges.
  • Thoughtful and creative.
