Biomedical Equipment Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician to join our team at Great Lakes Bio-Medical Services inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment and devices used in healthcare settings.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation and Setup:
- Install and configure new biomedical equipment and devices according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct initial testing to ensure equipment is operational before use.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on biomedical equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment, diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Document all service activities and update inventory records as required.
Customer Service and Support:
- Provide technical support and training to healthcare staff on the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
- Respond promptly to service requests and prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact on patient care.
Safety and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular safety checks and quality assurance tests on biomedical equipment.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment failures to the appropriate authorities and follow up on corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with advancements in biomedical technology and industry best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Education: Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair. Experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Certification: Certification from a recognized biomedical equipment technician organization (e.g., AAMI, CBET) is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills with a thorough understanding of biomedical equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 10-50 pounds.
- Capacity to work in various healthcare environments, including exposure to biological hazards.
