Night Charge Nurse Job Description

Job Summary:

The Night Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing the nursing department staff members assigned to the shift, ensuring the provision of high-quality patient care in a professional manner. This role requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise nursing department staff members assigned to the shift
  • Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
  • Ensure the successful organizational and administrative operation of the shift in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations
  • Maintain the highest degree of quality patient care at all times

Requirements:

  • Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse license certified by the State of Texas or licensure from a state within the nursing compact required
  • Hold current CPR/BLS or obtain upon hire
  • Credentials in an advanced cardiac life support course (e.g. ACLS or hospital equivalent) preferred
  • Credentials in a nationally recognized pediatric advanced life support course (e.g. PALS or ENPC) preferred
  • TNCC preferred
  • A minimum of 1 year nursing experience is required
  • Must possess typing skills and general computer experience
  • Must possess leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess skills in time management and organization
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner
