Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Coffeewood Correctional Center. As a LPN, you will provide evidence-based nursing care to patients, administer medications, and provide first aid and basic life support as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients, including administering medications and providing first aid and basic life support as needed
  • Screen for sick call and maintain open lines of communication with security and treatment staff
  • Record all pertinent information into the medical record
  • Interact with other departments as needed
  • Promote continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license
  • Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of practical or general nursing care
  • Demonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals
  • Ability to maintain appropriate documentation, provide first aid, and carry out providers' orders in applying treatments
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to administer practical nursing care
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a corrections or law enforcement environment
  • Experience or related training in delivery of general nursing and emergency medical care
