Overview
This role is designed for a Group Supervisor within the Electrical Engineering sector. The individual will be responsible for overseeing inspection, testing, analysis, and troubleshooting of existing electrical and electronic systems. The primary focus will be ensuring these systems are designed, operated, and maintained in accordance with relevant codes, policies, and regulations. Additionally, this position will serve as a consultant on system repairs, replacements, and enhancements. The role provides engineering expertise for a variety of routine and complex projects within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer technical direction in the design, investigation, testing, analysis, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and applicable regulations.
- Supervise contracted work from initial planning through to construction completion, which includes scoping, cost estimation, procurement phases, and installation.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Office Chief on long-term planning for significant repair and replacement initiatives, including making recommendations for improvements and prioritizing projects.
- Manage recruitment, training, and workload distribution among staff, establishing clear performance expectations to support operational and mission objectives.
- Foster collaborative relationships within the Engineering Office and with external partners to ensure efficient execution of work assignments.
Employment Conditions

- Must be suitable for federal employment, as determined by a background investigation.
- Submission of a resume and supporting documentation is required.
- Must meet minimum education and experience requirements.
- A valid Professional Engineering License is mandatory.
Qualifications
Basic Education Requirement: To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the Basic Education Requirement for the GS-0850 ELECTRICAL ENGINEER series, which includes:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program, or
- A combination of education and experience that demonstrates a thorough understanding of engineering principles and practices.
Additional Requirements: Candidates must demonstrate that they meet the education and specialized experience requirements as detailed in their resume. For the GS-13 level, one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service is required.
Specialized Experience: This includes comprehensive knowledge of engineering theories and practices related to the operation and maintenance of structures, systems, and equipment. Experience in reviewing designs, inspecting equipment, troubleshooting issues, and managing project budgets is essential.
Note: All candidates must provide proof of their Professional Engineering License to be considered for this position.
