Job Title: Income Tax Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Income Tax Specialist to join our team at the City of Pontiac, Michigan. As a key member of our Income Tax department, you will be responsible for processing, maintaining, and reviewing general income tax forms, as well as providing exceptional customer service to taxpayers and tax preparers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and review income tax returns and attachments for individual filers
  • Prepare refunds, carry forwards, donations, and submit billings
  • Compose and prepare various forms of correspondence, records, and reports
  • Perform mathematical computations and update records as needed
  • Monitor annual employer withholding statements and periodic payments
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of income tax compliance
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Three years of experience in tax preparation or accounting desired
  • Ability to understand the City's Income Tax Ordinance
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently enter and process various forms of data
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all materials, information, and knowledge associated with taxpayer data
