Reporting directly to the President of the University, the Chief Advancement Officer collaborates with the advancement team and senior leadership to fulfill the institution's mission of promoting socially responsible practices, fostering healthy communities, and contributing to a more equitable society.

This pivotal position spearheads fundraising initiatives and grant activities throughout the university, enhances philanthropic engagement among trustees and university stakeholders, and supports the President's fundraising endeavors while providing strategic guidance to the institution by leveraging industry insights and best practices.

Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution is mandatory.

A minimum of seven (7) years of documented experience in progressive development leadership and/or successful fundraising within a complex, dynamic, and/or matrixed environment is essential; experience in higher education, non-profit, or related sectors is preferred.

Of the required seven (7) years, at least four (4) years must involve oversight of personnel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


Collaborates with key stakeholders, including the President, Board of Trustees, donors at all levels, alumni, and friends of the University to develop both long-term and short-term strategies for engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of constituents in all matters related to the advancement and philanthropic support of the University.

Establishes priorities and takes responsibility for a broad and complex array of initiatives tied to the university's philanthropic goals and activities.

Supports the development of a growing institutional advancement team, formalizes and implements a plan for the university's next comprehensive campaign, and works to enhance the involvement and engagement of university partners in fundraising efforts.

Oversees the planning and execution of all programs and activities aimed at increasing philanthropic support for the University, including setting overall office-wide goals and objectives for all units, and directing the strategic implementation and evaluation of fundraising and engagement strategies to achieve those objectives.

Manages the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of leadership gift prospects through personal visits and other communication methods.

Plans and supports all fundraising and constituent engagement activities of the President, Center and Institute Directors, other departments, and faculty.

Collaborates with the Chairs of the Board of Trustees and Campaign Steering Committee and other leaders on the Board to ensure coordination and ongoing progress of all fundraising and constituent engagement activities.

Serves as a member of the President's Cabinet, responsible for advising and collaborating with the President on a full spectrum of institutional matters.

Manages, motivates, and evaluates the Institutional Advancement staff.
Establishes and oversees the budget for the Institutional Advancement office.

Represents the University at events, to volunteer groups, and in the community with the goal of enhancing the visibility of the University's fundraising priorities and needs.

Other duties as assigned and/or required.

Work Environment (Physical Demands): The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
