Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients in custody who have complicated health conditions. As a Nurse Practitioner with our Outposted Therapeutic Housing Units (OTxHU) program, you will provide comprehensive and compassionate care to these individuals, working closely with an interdisciplinary team under the supervision of a Site Medical Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
  • Complete comprehensive histories and physicals on new admissions
  • Evaluate patients requesting sick call and update medication orders
  • Implement plans for patient care using approved protocols
  • Request radiology exams, lab tests, and EKGs when clinically indicated
  • Review specialty consults and hospital returns
  • Generate special needs referrals and documentation
  • Teach patients about their medical conditions and treatments
Requirements:
  • A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the NYSED
  • Holds or obtains through facility orientation a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)
