We are seeking an Oncology Triage Nurse to join our team at SCRI Oncology Partners. The successful candidate will have a strong background in oncology nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for assessing patient needs over the phone, developing care plans, and documenting all elements of care in the patient's medical record.
About the Role:
The Oncology Triage Nurse will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive timely and effective care. They will be expected to accurately identify patients with high-risk conditions, direct care to appropriate resources, and adhere to national and organizational standards for specialty care. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and possess strong documentation skills.
Responsibilities:
* Assess patient calls, portal messages, and emails in a timely manner
* Develop care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals
* Manage a wide range of symptoms, including pain, nausea, and fatigue
* Assess urgency of patient symptoms/side effects and address them appropriately
* Collaborate with providers to discuss patient care needs that cannot be addressed using standard orders or protocols
* Document all conversations with patients to maintain a comprehensive medical record
* Provide clear instructions and education to patients via the telephone and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
* Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education (BSN preferred)
* RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
* At least 3-5 years of nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology (preferably)
* Oncology certification (OCN) preferred
