Position Overview: As a vital member of the Martin's team, the Advanced Vehicle Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair and upkeep of company vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime and compliance with state, federal, and DOT regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute work orders assigned by management, including repairs and maintenance of air conditioning, heating, engine cooling, and electrical systems, as well as brake replacements and exhaust systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on water pumps, transmissions, and ABS systems.
  • Perform tune-ups on standard transmission vehicles.
  • Provide mentorship and quality assurance oversight for junior mechanics.
  • Ensure compliance with both general and company-specific operational standards.
  • Perform tasks typically assigned to junior mechanics as required.
  • After completing repairs, inspect and test drive vehicles to confirm successful repairs and functionality.
  • Check and adjust safety devices, loose bolts, and protective guards.
  • Utilize hydraulic jacks or hoists to raise vehicles and heavy components.
  • Employ hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and wrenches, as well as power tools like pneumatic wrenches and welding equipment.
  • Inspect all vehicle components, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, and brake systems, to identify potential issues.
  • Stay current with technical knowledge and participate in training sessions to enhance skills and improve work quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to assist with breakdowns.
  • Support other departments as needed.
Supervisory Role:
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications: To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Previous training in diesel mechanics.
Language Proficiency:
Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operational manuals, and maintenance instructions. Capable of writing routine correspondence and effectively communicating with colleagues.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations in various units of measure, including whole numbers and decimals.

Reasoning Skills:
Ability to apply common sense to follow detailed instructions and solve problems with a few concrete variables.

Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance planning and tracking software.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic software.
Certifications:
  • CDL - Class A.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • State inspection license for tractors and trailers.
  • Air conditioning certification.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include regular standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and have specific vision abilities necessary for the role.

Work Environment:
Employees may encounter wet or humid conditions, fumes, and airborne particles. The work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
