Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Manager to lead our Perianesthesia Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maximizing efficiency of patient flow, controlling the transfer of patients to and from the Operating Room/Procedural Areas to the PACU.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct and monitor patient flow in the high-volume and high-acuity PACU environment.
- Collaborate with anesthesia floor leaders, nursing management, and surgeons to determine optimal utilization of the PACU department.
- Develop and promote a team philosophy and interdisciplinary collaboration among staff to foster a continuum of care for the perioperative patient.
- Establish effective communications with nursing management, anesthesia floor leaders, surgeons, and hospital administration to ensure efficient utilization of the PACU department.
- Implement and monitor adherence to personnel and departmental policies.
- Graduated from an approved school of nursing; bachelor's degree required, MSN preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of patient flow and perianesthesia department operations.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities to make effective decisions in an expedient manner while maintaining high-quality care standards.
- Ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, and problem-solve with physician staff over PACU bay assignments.
- Ability to promote a customer-oriented philosophy among all staff within the area.
The Perianesthesia department is a stressful, high-volume and high-acuity patient care environment. Work is underground with no windows or exposure to natural light. There is a possible exposure to infectious diseases.
