Key Responsibilities

This role entails providing expert geological and mining knowledge along with the management of solid leasable minerals, mineral materials, locatable minerals, and Abandoned Mine Lands initiatives. The individual will conduct regular compliance and production verification inspections related to solid minerals management, often requiring the use of a 4-wheel drive vehicle for access. Reviews and assesses exploration or development operational plans for their adequacy, collaborating with operators and consulting with representatives from other governmental entities to resolve issues concerning mineral extraction proposals on public lands. Prepares mineral potential assessments, geological models, mine engineering documentation, and mineral evaluations. These evaluations, reports, and models are created using advanced geological and mine design software, alongside cost estimating data to formulate valuation models. Engages in or leads interdisciplinary team projects on public lands to produce environmental documentation that evaluates the effects of surface disturbances associated with mineral development activities.
