Role Overview
The Senior Civil Engineering Project Leader will offer technical guidance to project teams engaged in the planning, assessment, design, and execution of civil engineering projects. This role involves leading the study and design phases of projects across various sectors, including civil, environmental, and industrial engineering. The successful candidate will interact regularly with clients, stakeholders, and the public, while also managing a team of engineers and promoting a professional image of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert consultation and guidance to project stakeholders regarding engineering requirements for construction designs and modifications.
  • Utilize design software and tools to accurately create and communicate project designs; plan and design necessary improvements related to assigned projects.
  • Establish design specifications by calculating engineering requirements such as water flow rates and traffic demands.
  • Analyze relevant materials, including drawings, blueprints, and survey reports, to plan projects effectively.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on project-related topics, including engineering due diligence.
  • Calculate materials, equipment, and labor costs to estimate probable construction expenses.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure seamless project progression.
  • Work alongside surveyors to establish reference points and grades that will influence construction outcomes.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design specifications and standards.
  • Review projects for quality assurance and quality control, providing stamps as necessary.
  • Independently manage complex projects with minimal oversight after initial handoff.
  • Educate and mentor junior engineers on methodologies and best practices.
  • Contribute to the refinement of design methodologies used within the company.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in civil engineering.
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills are preferred.
  • Act as a technical expert for complex projects, reflecting the company’s values positively.
  • Assign tasks to junior engineers based on their skills and capabilities.
  • Implement regulatory requirements proactively, based on knowledge of local and state regulations.
