Evening Child Care Specialist

Educational Requirements:
Required – High school diploma or equivalent; Preferred – Associate degree from an accredited institution or two or more years of college coursework in a relevant human services field.
Certification in First Aid, CPR, and Emergency Behavior Intervention is essential.
Experience:
Required – Minimum of one year of professional experience in child welfare, specifically working with children and/or adolescents in a social service environment; Preferred – Over two years of relevant experience and/or training in a related human services area.
Adhere to all federal and state regulations applicable to this role.
Document all significant incidents, daily progress, and activities thoroughly, accurately, and promptly in compliance with agency policies.
Facilitate the orientation process for new children and staff members.Employ positive child management strategies, including verbal redirection, de-escalation techniques, and containment methods.
Plan, organize, and oversee activities for children according to the established daily schedule.
Instruct children in constructive behavior, social skills, realistic problem-solving, responsible time and money management, conversational English, personal hygiene, and essential life skills.
Assist children with their homework assignments.Ensure a tidy and organized living space for children, which includes assisting with household chores and laundry, overseeing daily responsibilities, identifying maintenance needs, and reporting them to the Unit Manager.
Maintain and update records related to children's clothing and personal belongings.Ensure a secure environment by conducting regular rounds and utilizing proper radio communication protocols, responding to all radio calls.
Encourage positive interactions among children and promote their responsibility in the daily routines of the facility.
Model culturally and socially appropriate behaviors while explaining these behaviors to children to facilitate learning and replication.
Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required or requested by the supervising position.Implement safety protocols during emergencies, including evacuating with children and staff.
Uphold confidentiality in all aspects of child and program operations.
Adhere to professional and ethical standards of conduct as outlined in the employee handbook, demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members while complying with the dress code.
Provide continuous and uninterrupted direct supervision of assigned children from the beginning of the shift until relieved.
Follow medical and clinical staff instructions regarding each child and inform the Unit Manager of any information affecting the health and well-being of the assigned children.
Communicate positively and respectfully with children, families, and all agency personnel, including supervisors, colleagues, therapists, student interns, and volunteers.
Frequently move between different areas of the facility, both indoors and outdoors, to provide direct supervision of children.
Effectively convey behavioral expectations and program regulations to children, ensuring compliance with these regulations by all assigned children.
Complete all necessary documentation before the end of the shift.Collaborate effectively with other staff members, service providers, and professionals.
Provide crisis intervention as per training when necessary to maintain a safe environment.
Maintain the computer skills required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Work efficiently and independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of all agency policies and procedures.
