MRI Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies.
Key Responsibilities- Operate MRI scanners to acquire high-quality images for use by physicians in diagnoses and treatment of pathologies
- Exercise independent judgment to modify scan techniques for optimal scan acquisition
- Consult with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as necessary to ensure accurate and effective patient care
- Float among radiology clinics associated with BWH as needed
- Perform venipuncture, administer IV contrast agents, and maintain ACLS certification
- Conduct daily quality assurance on MRI scanners and verify the safe operation of all patient equipment
- Notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and needed repairs
- Operate control consoles, select proper imaging protocols, and enter patient data at start of examination
- Transfer patient images to PACS, alert radiologists of urgent findings, and archive image data
- Collaborate with Assistant Chief Technologists and Lead Technologists to ensure smooth patient flow and optimal utilization of MRI scanners
- Graduate of an approved school of Medical Imaging
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent
- Be Registered or eligible for certification in MRI by the ARRT or equivalent
- Meet, successfully complete, and maintain ARRT or equivalent certification and registration within one year of start of employment
- 2-3 years' experience as a Radiologic technologist preferred with at least one year in a specialty such as CT scan, or angiography
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients under physical and/or emotional stress
- Analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging techniques, methods, and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
- Proficiency with Radiology and Hospital Information Systems (Percipio, IDXrad, LMR, BICS, PACS/Centricity, Safety Reporting, RMS Scanning, etc.) relating to patient information and management
- Awareness of hazards within the department, (Magnetic Field, standard precautions, etc.), and adherence to safety standards established by BWH and regulatory agencies
- Exposure to magnetic fields and radio frequencies
- Exposure to human waste and other similar unpleasant elements
- Periodic exposure to noise and cold equipment
- Subject to frequent stressful situations
