MRI Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). As an MRI Technologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by operating the Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner to acquire high-quality images.
Key Responsibilities- Operate the MRI scanner to acquire images for use by physicians in diagnoses and treatment of pathologies.
- Modify scan techniques for optimal scan acquisition, exercising independent judgment and consulting with radiologists and other experts as necessary.
- Screen patients for MRI safety and position them correctly for imaging.
- Control access to the MRI environment and maintain a safe working area.
- Prepare and clean the equipment and scanner room for each patient, stocking and supplying the room as needed.
- Perform daily quality assurance on MRI scanners and verify the safe operation of all other patient equipment.
- Notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and needed repairs.
- Operate the control console for each patient's scan, selecting proper imaging protocols and entering patient data.
- Transfer patient images to PACS and alert radiologists of any urgent findings.
- Archive image data to optical disc or DVD.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth patient flow and optimal utilization of MRI scanners.
- Graduate of an approved school of Medical Imaging.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
- Eligible for certification in MRI by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent.
- 2-3 years' experience as a Radiologic technologist, preferably in a specialty such as CT scan or angiography.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients under physical and emotional stress.
- Analytical abilities necessary to acquire and utilize knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy.
- Proficiency with Radiology and Hospital Information Systems (Percipio, IDXrad, LMR, BICS, PACS/Centricity, Safety Reporting, RMS Scanning, etc.).
- Awareness of hazards within the department and adherence to safety standards established by BWH and regulatory agencies.
Exposure to magnetic fields and radio frequencies. Exposure to human waste and other unpleasant elements. Periodic exposure to noise and cold equipment. Subject to frequent stressful situations.
