Perfusion Technician

We are seeking a skilled Perfusion Technician to join our team at Dartmouth Health. As a Perfusion Technician, you will play a critical role in expediting patient care and room turnover times for the cardiac surgery rooms.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Perfusionists with the assembly of rotating heart-lung machines, ensuring a sterile setup.
- Manage the cell saver machine cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance.
- Perform assigned patient care, environmental, and Supply Chain functions, including the operation of cell saver equipment.
- Prepare supply carts for procedures, including fluids and medications.
- Set up, operate, document, and takedown Cell Saver machines.
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis as needed and serve as a lab runner.
- Assist with equipment issues during procedures.
- Prepare the IABP console and assist with ECMO operations.
- Perform weekly Quality Assurance/Control on the heparin monitoring system.
- Order supplies and medications, and stock carts.
- Assist with documentation and Quality Assurance/Control.
- Periodically outdate and reorder disposable supplies.
- Assist in quarterly cleaning and disinfection of heater/coolers under FDA regulations.
- Maintain main OR cell saver machines and perfusion pumps, including PM coordination with Biomed.
- Provide in-services to Perioperative Services Technicians on cell saver operation.
- Clean Perfusion space and equipment.
- High school diploma required.
- 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment, anticipating, prioritizing, and coordinating work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- BLS Certification within 4 weeks of hire date.
- Credentialing as a Cell Saver operator within 3 months.
- Current registration in the state of New Hampshire as a Medical Technician.
