Chief Scientific Officer Opportunity at Orlando Health Cancer Institute

Orlando Health Cancer Institute is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Scientific Officer to lead our Oncology Research Program and develop a robust portfolio of clinical trials, including industry-supported trials, encompassing cytokine therapy, cellular therapies, and intra-tumoral therapies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee the Oncology Research Program, including clinical trials and the development of a Phase 1 Program.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, researchers, and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with the research team to identify potential clinical trial opportunities and cellular therapy advancements.
  • Expand, design, and implement protocols for clinical trials and cellular therapy studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with a dyad partner and core team in the operational aspects of clinical trials, including patient recruitment, data collection, and monitoring.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to research staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in clinical trials and cellular therapy, and apply this knowledge to enhance research programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the Cancer Institute to promote interdisciplinary research initiatives.
Requirements:
  • MD with a proven track record in clinical care and research.
  • Extensive experience in clinical trials and cellular/immuno-therapy research, preferably in an oncology setting.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines related to clinical trials.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and drive research initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic data capture systems and clinical trial management software.
Role Requirements:
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in medical oncology and hematology.
  • Unrestricted FL medical license (or ability to obtain one) and DEA.
  • Not a J-1 visa position.
