Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of our echocardiography department, you will be responsible for obtaining diagnostic transthoracic and fetal echocardiograms and compiling preliminary reports on all exams requested by the pediatric cardiologist.

Responsibilities
  • Perform transthoracic echocardiograms according to the requirements set by the Nationwide Children's Echo Lab protocols.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of congenital heart disease, cath lab interventions, surgical repairs, and complications which lead to the acquisition of high-quality and diagnostic images.
  • Generate complete preliminary reports in the reporting system.
  • Perform echocardiograms at various offsite clinics and local hospitals.
  • Communicate with the team going to the offsite locations regarding transportation, start times, coverage, and emergencies.
  • Provide training and positive mentorship to trainees as assigned.
  • Participate in department quality and process initiatives.
  • Attend and participate in Echo conferences, staff meetings, and Echo Quality Improvement meetings.
  • Participate in a rotating call schedule covering nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.
  • Respond within NCH guidelines and find call coverage when there are coverage conflicts.
  • Maintain the required CMEs for pediatric echocardiography registration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an applied science and a graduate from an accredited medical ultrasound school preferred.
  • Must be actively registered in Adult or Pediatric Echocardiography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International).
  • Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation must be maintained.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with no more than one violation and/or at-fault accident in previous two years. No more than two violations or at-fault accidents in previous three years.
Skills and Experience
  • Accepts and supports change in a positive manner.
  • Minimum of five years full-time experience in pediatric echocardiography.
  • Minimum of one year full-time experience in fetal echocardiography.
  • Extensive knowledge of normal and abnormal pediatric and fetal cardiac imaging.
  • Maintains professional standards, sets goals, and participates in activities to achieve those goals.
