Key Responsibilities
  • The role of a Lead Respiratory Care Specialist encompasses:
  • Performing duties as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, which includes evaluating, educating, and caring for patients with respiratory and cardiac conditions. This involves patient evaluations, administering medications, oxygen therapy, blood gas assessments, and managing ventilators for patients of all ages. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Championing pulmonary services and interventions, assessing care requirements, addressing concerns, and proposing enhancements. Organizing and overseeing staffing schedules to ensure effective task completion.
  • Facilitating the orientation and assessment of new team members, providing training, and serving as a resource for resolving issues. Accurately gathering and presenting information within established timelines.
  • Ensuring adequate staffing levels, availability of equipment, and necessary supplies. Reviewing arterial blood gas controls, reporting on operational performance, and maintaining blood gas analyzers.
  • Completing other designated tasks and projects while adhering to organizational competencies and standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Essential Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program with a minimum of five years of experience in adult critical care.
  • Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in acute care or ventilator weaning units, along with experience in pediatric care. Proficiency in operating the AVEA ventilator and arterial blood gas analysis equipment.
  • Mandatory Licenses and Certifications:
  • New Jersey Respiratory Care Practitioner License, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification, and AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
