About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Classroom Teacher to join our team at the Boys Residential Academy in Yanceyville, NC. As a key member of our educational team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction and support to our students.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct special education instruction to identified students.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Design and implement research-based instructional strategies and activities.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet students' diverse needs and abilities.
  • Maintain knowledge of and implement established curriculum based on state standards.
  • Integrate subject matter through thematic development.
  • Provide vocational/career instruction and a positive academic learning climate.
  • Participate in development and revision of personal education plans.
  • Conduct standardized and diagnostic testing, and analyze student performance data.
  • Provide input into ordering instructional materials and supplies.
  • Maintain secure and accurate student record keeping.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University.
  • Must meet NC state teacher certification eligibility requirements.
  • Prefer state certification in all core subject areas taught.
  • Prefer endorsement/certification in Reading, ESOL, and special education.
  • Ability to restrain youth in accordance with approved techniques.
  • Must be free of communicable diseases.
  • Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and drive for business purposes.
About Our Program

Eckerd Connects' Short-Term Juvenile Justice Residential program is a complete rehabilitative experience delivered in 4 to 6 months to 40 adjudicated male youth, ages 13 to 17. Our program combines promising and evidence-based practices with a strong family transition component and signifies a public-private partnership with the Division of Juvenile Justice.

Intensive, short-term services include individualized treatment and academic plans that combine formal and experiential education, community service, behavioral health, and family counseling in a non-punitive environment designed to address the youth's behavioral challenges through a strength-based approach.

Youth also receive accredited education on-site and work together in small group settings with assigned counselors.
