About the Property Accountant Role

We are looking for a talented Property Accountant responsible for general ledger accounting tasks, including balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for multiple properties. This role will involve collaboration with property managers and regional leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze financial data for month-end and year-end close, including the preparation of supporting schedules and work papers.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for several properties, including financial statements and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger activity through journal entries.
  • Manage cash operations, including cash application and reconciliations.
  • Work closely with property managers and regional leadership to ensure timely pre-close activities are recorded accurately.
  • Proactively engage with clients regarding property profitability and address inquiries promptly.
  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new properties to ensure proper setup and accurate financial reporting.
  • Perform additional duties or ad hoc projects as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related business field is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in an accounting role is required.
  • Preferred experience includes three or more years in multifamily property management accounting.
  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager or similar systems is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP is essential.

Skills and Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Capability to perform advanced mathematical functions.
  • Experience in cash forecasting and management.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements.
  • Capacity to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

Typically, the work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, in an office setting.
