About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at Fourier Ltd, a leading trading firm. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining our research environment, working closely with our research team to design and implement tools and workflows that facilitate exploratory research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Research Environment: Design and implement a Python research environment tailored for data-intensive workloads, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and meets the needs of our research team.
  • Collaborate with Researchers: Work closely with our research team to implement studies, analytics, and production models for commodities trading, leveraging your expertise in Python and API design.
  • Develop Tools and Workflows: Develop tools and workflows that facilitate exploratory research, including designing robust Python APIs to boost research productivity.
  • Manage Production Workflows: Manage production workflows for real-time forecasting, modeling, and analytics in a Linux compute environment, ensuring seamless integration with our research environment.
  • Backtesting and Systematic Trading: Develop systems for backtesting and systematic trading strategies, deploying them into our production environment.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure Team: Work with our research infrastructure team to leverage their Linux computer cluster, ensuring efficient use of resources and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with Data Management Teams: Collaborate with our data management teams to refine data acquisition, storage, and accessibility processes, ensuring seamless integration with our research environment.
Requirements
  • Extensive Experience with Python: Proven track record of building and scaling large-scale analysis or machine learning tools using Python.
  • API Design Expertise: Expertise in designing and implementing robust Python APIs to boost research productivity.
  • Modern Data Technologies: Strong understanding of modern data technologies, including Postgres, Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow, and dbt.
  • Data Visualization Tools: Proficiency in data visualization tools, including Plotly, Panel, and Dash.
  • Software Engineering Best Practices: Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and deployment.
  • Strongly Typed or Compiled Languages: Experience with strongly typed or compiled languages, such as Java, C++, Go, or Rust.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage complex projects end-to-end, including stakeholder management, requirement gathering, and mentoring junior engineers.
