Job responsibilities

  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Build Microservices that will run on the bank's internal cloud and the public cloud platform
  • Write test cases, leverage unit and integration testing, develop functionality and automation
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Present and document technical designs, process flows, and procedures
  • Work closely with product teams, users, agile leads, and other development teams across the firm to support and deliver highly integrated technology
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to drive outcome-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced hands-on with Java technologies/frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot, Spring JPA/Hibernate, REST based services, etc
  • Expertise in Java Core concepts, including object-oriented design, memory management, multi-threading/concurrency, and new language features up to Java 17
  • Strong experience
  • Experience with Kafka and Kubernetes
  • Hands-on SQL optimization knowledge and Oracle database
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Front-end technologies such as React, JavaScript, or Angular
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
