We are committed to delivering exceptional care to our patients, from infants to the elderly, whether for elective or urgent procedures. Shifts/Hours: Our Surgical Specialists operate on a rotating schedule of 10 or 12 hours to ensure continuous coverage.
We are pleased to offer SIGN-ON BONUSES for all new hires in both full-time and part-time Surgical Specialist roles. The bonus amount is based on your years of experience in Surgical Technology.
Compensation details for sign-on bonuses are as follows:
- 0-1 years of experience: 2-year commitment $5,000; 3-year commitment $6,000
- 1-2 years of experience: 2-year commitment $6,000; 3-year commitment $8,500
- 2+ years of experience: 2-year commitment $7,500; 3-year commitment $12,500

The job title and salary will be determined based on qualifications and career ladder requirements.
Role Overview:
As a Surgical Specialist, you will perform various tasks in the operating room to support the surgical team. Responsibilities include preparing sterile setups for surgical procedures, passing instruments, sponges, and sutures to surgeons and surgical assistants, preparing sterile supplies, assisting in the cleanup of the operating room, and ensuring the proper functioning of equipment.
- Ensure all medications are properly labeled and provided to the surgeon in accordance with established protocols.
- Prepare the operating room prior to procedures by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions.
- During surgeries, efficiently pass instruments and sterile supplies to the surgical team, hold retractors, cut sutures, and assist in counting sponges and instruments.
- Assist in the preparation and care of specimens for laboratory analysis and help apply dressings.
- Support the surgical team in donning sterile gowns and gloves.
- Post-surgery, assist in transferring patients to recovery and ensure the operating room is cleaned and restocked.
- Prepare patients for surgery by ensuring aseptic incision sites and assisting with their positioning on the operating table.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and aseptic techniques.
Continuing Education Requirements:
Compliance with continuing education requirements as specified by the credentialing organization for certification is mandatory. For non-certified individuals, completion of 30 hours of continuing education every two years is required.
Experience:
Candidates should have completed a formal surgical technician program from an accredited institution or military training. Entry-level positions are available for those with 0-2 years of experience.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- CPR certification based on AHA standards is required within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is necessary.
- Compliance with Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 clearances is required.
