Job Summary:

Purdue University is seeking a full-time Custodian to join our Building Services department. This position is responsible for maintaining and performing custodial duties within assigned university building areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily general cleaning duties in assigned areas, including classrooms, offices, labs, restrooms, stairwells, and hallways.
  • Remove trash and recyclables.
  • Perform floor care duties, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, stripping, and refinishing floors, as well as carpet cleaning.
  • Assist with special event setup and removal of tables and chairs.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are in stock.
  • Perform routine facility and equipment inspections and inform supervisor of needed repairs.

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to operate commercial floor care equipment and climb ladders.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, and pull 10 to 25 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
