Job Summary

The Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Park Maintenance Assistant to join our team in the Channel Coast District/Santa Barbara Sector/El Capitan State Beach. As a Park Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain park facilities and grounds, including:

  • Performing skilled and semi-skilled duties necessary to maintain park facilities and grounds
  • Assisting in the maintenance and housekeeping duties of facilities
  • Acting as a lead person for seasonal employees, CDF crews, or other agencies crews
  • Assisting in facility maintenance projects
  • Operating and maintaining equipment and tools used in maintenance
  • Performing unskilled maintenance as required

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor or their designee
  • Performing a variety of tasks to maintain park facilities and grounds, including maintenance and housekeeping duties
  • Assisting in facility maintenance projects and operating and maintaining equipment and tools used in maintenance
  • Performing unskilled maintenance as required
  • Acting as a lead person for seasonal employees, CDF crews, or other agencies crews

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must:

  • Have a valid California Driver's License
  • Be able to pass a background investigation
  • Be able to pass a medical clearance
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a variety of environments, including:

  • Outdoor environments, including inclement weather
  • Indoor environments, including offices and maintenance facilities
  • Remote locations, including parks and beaches

Special Requirements

The position requires:

  • A valid California Driver's License
  • A background investigation
  • A medical clearance
