Position Overview for Speech Language Pathologist

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a licensed expert responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and provision of speech therapy services aimed at achieving optimal patient outcomes. The SLP collaborates with supervisors to compile necessary reports and data. This role encompasses the assessment and treatment of disorders impacting speech, language, voice, swallowing, and cognitive-communicative functions for both inpatient and outpatient populations.

Qualifications for Speech Language Pathologist

Education
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from an accredited institution is mandatory.
  • Current licensure in Maryland is required, which includes 20 continuing education units (CEUs) every two years.
  • CPR certification is necessary.
  • Must possess a certificate of clinical competency in Speech Language Pathology or be eligible for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
Experience
  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience in an acute care environment is preferred, although exceptional CFY candidates may be considered.
