Creative Arts Therapist

Our Level I Trauma Center provides around-the-clock care in adult, pediatric, psychiatric, and pediatric psychiatric emergencies, as well as in cardiology, neurology, toxicology, and neonatology.
Job Summary:We are seeking a Creative Arts Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in preparing unit schedules for patient therapeutic programming, coordinate group schedules for compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide a therapeutic group program for patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in preparing unit schedules for patient therapeutic programming and adhere to the same, providing updates as needed.
- Coordinate and monitor group schedules for compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide a therapeutic group program for patients approved by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with interdisciplinary treatment goals.
- Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment team by attending meetings and contributing to the formulation of individual patient comprehensive treatment plans.
- Assess patient functioning, prepare preliminary treatment plans, participate in comprehensive treatment team planning, and write progress notes in the medical record according to rules and guidelines.
- Communicate clinical and work-related information to the unit team and immediate supervisor as necessary.
- Provide consultation for complex cases in the evaluation of social, cognitive, psychological, and physical functioning through the creative arts therapy program.
- Monitor, document, and evaluate the attainment of creative arts therapy goals as part of the therapeutic process.
- Coordinate student and volunteer programs by functioning as a liaison to various universities.
- Coordinate and supervise the activities of auxiliary staff in related therapeutic disciplines.
- A valid License or Limited Permit issued by the New York State Education Department to practice as a Creative Arts Therapist. Employees working with a Limited Permit must obtain Licensure within two years from their date of appointment.
- Assignment Level II: A valid License issued by the New York State Education Department to practice as a Creative Arts Therapist, and two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in creative arts therapy.
- Assignment Level III: In addition to meeting the requirements for Assignment Levels II, Assignment Level III requires one additional year of experience.
