About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CT Technologist to join our team at Kaweah Health. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating and executing CT procedures with expert knowledge of the capability of each CT unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Multi-Slice CT equipment according to procedure, selecting appropriate scan angles, slices, techniques, and scanning protocols to assure maximum image quality.
  • Provide radiation and general safety protection for patients and staff according to prescribed safety standards, adjusting imaging protocols and techniques to accommodate the age, body habitus, disease process, and condition of each patient.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures, verifying physician orders for exam appropriateness prior to CT examinations and referring questions to Radiologist, referring physician, or manager before performing procedure.
  • Thoroughly explain the CT procedure to the patient before initiating imaging, conducting an interview of the patient prior to the CT examination to determine patient eligibility for the CT exam.
  • Position patients correctly for the CT examination being performed, properly immobilizing patients for CT examination, and assisting physician in administering contrast media, preparing contrast solutions according to procedures, and assembling administration materials.
  • Check images for clarity and correct identification, displaying competence and confidence in the performance of specialized CT procedures, and using department RIS computers according to procedures.
  • Accountable for the timely, comprehensive, and accurate transfer of CT images to the PACS system, maintaining proficiency with the advanced applications utilized on the CT Post-processing Workstation, and following procedures for the timely and accurate transfer of CT images to the teleradiology service.
  • Keep designated work area clean and orderly, equipment is kept clean, and room is appropriately stocked with supplies in a ready condition.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all members of hospital/imaging center, medical staff, and community, becoming familiar with and able to assist physicians in viewing images which are maintained on the Imaging Services' PACS system.
  • May support the hospital with on-call services as needed, maintaining visual and audible communication with patient throughout exam, and works with physicians to prioritize studies including trauma/critical, stroke, urgent, and stat exams.
  • Appropriately notifies vendor/engineer in a timely manner when equipment is not functioning, verifies two patient identifiers on every patient prior to performing CT, and notifies Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) in the event a misadministration of radiation occurs.
  • Able to mentor and teach new techs/students learning CT in a positive manner to assure an environment conducive to learning, assists in administering first aid as necessary, and maintains current Basic Life Support certification.
  • May perform procedures in Diagnostic Radiology as assigned, actively participates in CQI, assists other members of the shift with patient assignments, and fully understands and complies with ensuring proper security of medications.
  • Responsible for maintaining PAR Levels and currency of dates on supplies and medications they stock, demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
Requirements
  • CA Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license
  • ARRT (R)
  • BLS
  • Must obtain Fluoroscopy license within 18 months hire/transfer
  • Preferred: IV Certification
  • Preferred: Diagnostic Tech and CT Tech experience
