Kleinfelder is in search of a driven and seasoned Utility Client Relations Manager to enhance our exceptional team in the Southern California Region.

We are thrilled to offer a stimulating opportunity for an experienced and dynamic individual to influence Kleinfelder's trajectory in the Energy Utility Sector.

This individual will cultivate relationships with leading utility clients, collaborate closely with local operations, and contribute to the formation of client-focused delivery teams that will set the stage for remarkable growth in the future.

The primary emphasis will be on engaging with senior-level clients, spearheading market leadership, and developing teams aimed at cross-selling services to key client accounts.

This role can be based in various locations within the region.


The chosen candidate will thrive in our collaborative environment, primarily focusing on business and client development by formulating and executing a Strategic Growth Plan for our Utility partners in Southern California.

He or she will concentrate on expanding and diversifying Kleinfelder's operations in the region by:

offering direct coaching, mentoring, training, and career development for regional and divisional Client Account Managers (CAMs) focused on growth with key clients, introducing new clients and opportunities, cross-selling new services to existing clients, and providing leadership in business development.

Key Expectations:

Client service management expertise and experience in proposal preparation.

Familiarity with project management systems, project scheduling, scoping, budgeting, cost analysis, resource analysis, and reporting.

Comprehends our clients' business and devises innovative solutions and sound recommendations to meet their needs. Identifies and develops project opportunities for new work and/or expanded services for both new and established clients.

Addresses customer inquiries and complaints, communicates effectively with customers, resolves service issues courteously and efficiently, remains accessible to customers, follows procedures to resolve customer problems, understands company offerings, and maintains a professional demeanor.

Job Responsibilities:
Providing inspirational leadership in business, market, and professional development;

Championing safety leadership and stewardship;

Collaborating with internal resources to ensure our Southern California Team is well-informed and equipped to cross-sell our comprehensive suite of solutions to our clients;

Delivering team-oriented, tailored solutions to meet our clients' expectations;

Assessing risks and managing them appropriately for both Kleinfelder and our clients;

In partnership with Senior & Technical Leadership, and Recruiters, attracting and retaining exceptional talent for the team;

Extensive experience in developing new business initiatives and a solid client base in Southern California.

Driving sales from a targeted group of clients.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients while providing engineering and professional consulting services.


The ability to navigate a matrixed environment, engaging with both business development and operations teams, while maintaining close communication with clients to effectively represent their needs.

Leading positioning and proposal efforts to expand the business.

Mentoring staff to successfully deliver technical projects and foster a growth-oriented mindset within the group;

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field.


12+ years of relevant experience, including 4-5 years of direct client interaction in the energy sector and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, with 4+ years of sales experience required.

A Master's degree in Engineering is a plus.

A Professional Engineer License is also a plus.

The expected salary range for this position is provided in accordance with the California Equal Pay Acts. Final compensation will be determined based on individual qualifications and experience.

Salary Range:
$138,881.
