Position Overview:

The Client Manager plays a crucial role in delivering expert guidance and support that requires both technical acumen and industry insight to effectively address client needs and resolve challenges. This position may also involve acting as a Client Executive for designated accounts, overseeing the preparation and delivery of renewal and new business presentations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary liaison for Clients, Carriers, and the Client Service Team in various areas, including:
    • Reviewing and preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
    • Analyzing utilization reports, carrier data, and claims trends.
    • Managing COBRA, HIPAA, and coordinating 5500 data.
    • Collaborating with carrier representatives to ensure seamless implementation of new plans.
    • Ensuring timely delivery of required plan information and materials to clients.
  • Guide and mentor Benefit Analysts in gathering client census and benefit plan information necessary for preparing materials for new business presentations, renewals, and open enrollment meetings:
    • Clarifying client needs and concerns while demonstrating how various plan designs and recommendations address those issues.
    • Reviewing renewals, new business presentations, and open enrollment materials for accuracy, compliance, and professionalism.
    • Maintaining client files and documentation in accordance with policy and professional standards.
  • Develop analytical, customer service, and communication skills essential for advancement to Client Manager II:
    • Presenting financial metrics to Client Service or Sales Executives to predict and analyze plan benefit costs and influencing factors.
    • Participating in prospect and renewal meetings under the guidance of the Client Executive Service to understand client needs and concerns.
    • Learning best practices for presenting renewal outcomes and providing recommendations based on findings.
    • Conducting employee open enrollment meetings to communicate benefit options effectively.
    • Addressing and resolving routine client issues related to benefit services and coverage inquiries.
  • Keep the Client Executive Service informed of potential errors and omissions concerns and client dissatisfaction, collaborating to develop proactive solutions.
Qualifications:
  • A strong understanding of health and welfare plan benefits and carriers, typically acquired through a minimum of 5 years of experience in group health and benefits sales or service within a brokerage or carrier.
  • A Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • In-depth knowledge of employee health insurance carriers, their strengths and weaknesses, and factors affecting cost and plan design.
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted Life and Disability License in California, along with meeting continuing education requirements.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including experience with creating tables, charts, graphs, and formulas.
Work Environment:
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and remain in a stationary position for extended periods, as well as operate office equipment such as fax and copy machines.
  • Travel to client sites is necessary, usually within driving distance, with occasional overnight stays.
Compensation:
The applicable base salary range for this role is competitive and will be determined based on experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
