Job Title: Professional Engineer Grade 24

Fulton County, GA is seeking a highly skilled Professional Engineer Grade 24 to join our team. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for managing special design projects and overseeing engineering work involving the integration of multiple systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned engineering and paraprofessional staff, including establishing workloads, prioritizing work assignments, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Oversee engineering work involving the integration of multiple systems and provide technical expertise in an engineering specialty.
  • Prepare annual budget for assigned engineering section.
  • Manage and oversee special projects for assigned department and provide technical direction and coordination for projects involving multiple departments or jurisdictions.
  • Conduct project presentations and represent assigned department in various community forums, including public meetings.
  • Provide technical direction for various construction and maintenance projects.
  • Manage and approve design projects from outside engineering consultants.
  • Oversee legislatively mandated programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Presents petitions, design projects, and conceptual plans to the Board of Commissioners for approval.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; supplemented by five years of experience in Professional Engineering to include two years supervisory experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
  • License as a Professional Engineer (issued through the National Council of Engineering Examiners' Council Records Program, or from any state or territory of the United States).
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years experience with Innovyze ICM.
  • Experience in engineering design of water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Experience in computer modeling related to water distribution and sanitary sewer systems.
Working Conditions:

The incumbent in this class serves as a fully licensed Professional Engineer and works in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
