About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Humanities Specialist to join our team at the McGillicuddy Humanities Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and facilitating the operation of the center, including developing and implementing programs that engage art, literature, history, philosophy, politics, and diverse cultures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs that promote the humanities and engage with diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to advance teaching, research, and public knowledge of the humanities.
  • Provide administrative support for the center, including event planning, marketing, and outreach.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with arts and humanities institutions in Maine and beyond.
  • Support undergraduate student research projects and provide guidance on humanities-related topics.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in a Humanities or Arts discipline.
  • Expertise in digital media and platforms, including Adobe Suite, Google Workspace, WordPress, MailChimp, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Education and/or experience in public humanities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in a Humanities discipline.
  • Demonstrated skill in publicity design.
  • Demonstrated skill organizing and executing successful public events, in person and/or virtually.
  • Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary and campus-community collaborations.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant proposal writing.
