Position Summary:
The Senior Principal Operations Program Manager (OPM) will oversee a significant program that spans multiple locations across the United States. This role requires leveraging expertise in operations, material requirements planning, manufacturing, and business strategy within a complex organizational structure. You will be tasked with formulating and implementing operational program strategies and plans, ensuring comprehensive oversight of program performance concerning materials and operations, managing supply risks and opportunities, and effectively communicating customer requirements related to regulations and quality standards.
The OPM will also play a critical role in proposal development by leading material and operational proposal efforts, including crafting task descriptions and basis of estimates. Collaboration with Factory Operations, Supply Chain, and Procurement teams is essential. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary to influence and engage effectively across various departments and with external stakeholders. While this position may have limited direct reports, it necessitates the ability to influence others outside your immediate team to align on plans and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the operations focal point for the Program Integrated Product Team (IPT), accountable for all operational aspects including materials and issue resolution.
- Develop and implement capacity planning strategies.
- Provide operational inputs for customer proposals, including BOM costing and operational hours/costing.
- Support Estimates at Complete (EAC) and conduct monthly Earned Value reporting.
- Present operational metrics and data during Program Reviews to both internal and external leadership.
- Manage supplier risks and opportunities, including obsolescence management and improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the integrity of the program schedule is maintained and assessed.
- Lead efforts to meet readiness requirements throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) stage-gate process.
- Drive change initiatives aligned with the company’s strategy and values.
- Engage in hands-on support for a large and complex program while driving long-term improvements.
- Employ strategic thinking and develop business cases with a focus on return on investment.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Program Management, or technical Project Management.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is mandatory.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in EAC reviews and business case development.
- Proficient in reviewing statements of work (SOW) and understanding project requirements.
- Demonstrated analytical and prioritization skills.
- Experience in leading teams with both direct and indirect reports.
- Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and the ability to function effectively in an IPT environment.
- Strong critical thinking abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Self-motivated individual capable of achieving organizational and program objectives while interfacing with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
- Able to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced development environment.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of U.S. Government acquisition laws and regulations (FAR).
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP business systems.
- Understanding of MRCY-type products.
