POSITION SUMMARY:

The Personal Care Assistant is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional service and facilitating meaningful activities in a secure and nurturing environment, both at home and within the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support clients with essential daily living skills and personal tasks, including but not limited to hygiene, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and financial management.
  • Provide transportation for clients to various activities and appointments, necessitating a valid Arkansas Driver's License.
  • Ensure effective communication among staff regarding client needs and progress towards their care plans by the end of each shift.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately, including Behavioral Reports, Incident Reports, and other necessary forms as mandated by the organization.
  • Adhere to documentation and record-keeping requirements for transportation vehicles, ensuring compliance with Medicaid regulations.
  • Report any incidents or emergencies to a supervisor or designated authority without delay, as this role is safety-sensitive.
  • Assist in the development, management, and review of clients' Care Plans to prioritize their health, safety, and security.
  • Follow medication management protocols and assist in monitoring and documenting these processes.
  • Organize and facilitate recreational activities for clients.
  • Exemplify positive role modeling for clients through appropriate professional appearance and conduct.
  • Treat clients and their families with dignity and respect at all times, reflecting the organization's mission.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order in facilities and grounds.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and regular maintenance of organizational vehicles.
  • Participate in required training and continuing education.
  • Provide proof of liability insurance and maintain current coverage.
  • May be required to undergo periodic driving assessments and demonstrate vehicle operation proficiency.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all information related to the organization and its clients, adhering to HIPAA policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To succeed in this role, individuals must meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; or two or more years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret data presented in various formats.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and interpret various forms of information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employees must be able to perform essential functions, which may include using hands, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
