Join Our Team as a Residential Substance Abuse Counselor

At Gateway Foundation, we are dedicated to providing evidence-based treatment to individuals struggling with substance abuse issues. As a Residential Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping our clients achieve recovery and regain control of their lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to determine the scope and type of care needed
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to ensure comprehensive care
  • Lead group counseling and education sessions to promote positive change
  • Engage clients in one-on-one individual counseling sessions to address specific needs
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress in our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Utilize excellent communication skills to guide clients toward positive choices, especially in crisis situations
  • Monitor client behavior in the therapeutic milieu and administer tests of accountability as needed
  • Make community referrals for follow-up care to ensure continued support
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • Minimum 6 months of previous experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling required
  • Related work experience with a program-specific population (adolescent/adult) in a residential treatment setting required
