Isaacs Neighborhood Center are prominent community-focused organizations in Manhattan, dedicated to serving approximately 30,000 individuals across New York City. Our mission is to foster a fair and equitable society, empowering all individuals to make choices that enhance their lives and those of their families.

Program Description:
Our organization operates two early childhood centers designed for working families with children aged 2 to 5. Each center engages children in activities that stimulate their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development through interactive exploration of science, nature, and the arts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing and implementing educational programs, including daily and long-term lesson plans.
  • Executing the curriculum and facilitating daily activities.
  • Overseeing classroom management and ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Upholding professional standards and commitment to the institution.
  • Conducting biannual parent-teacher conferences.
  • Preparing and distributing progress reports for children three times a year.
  • Documenting and maintaining observations of children's development.
  • Participating in professional development workshops focused on early childhood education.
  • Leading weekly team meetings for collaborative planning and updates.
  • Ensuring confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
  • Administering annual screenings for all children.
  • Supervising outdoor play activities.
  • Meeting with the director weekly to discuss progress and plans.
  • Submitting weekly lesson plans to the director.
  • Utilizing Google Classrooms for educational purposes.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a program leading to permanent certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
  • Significant experience as an Assistant Teacher in an early childhood setting.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children aged 3-5 years.
  • Must be DOI Fingerprinted/PETS.
  • Ability to pass a state background check.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification is advantageous.
  • Completion of DOE & DOH mandated training is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to connect with children and colleagues.
  • Willingness to align with the school's educational philosophy.

  • Flexibility in working hours and adaptability with children.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and bend up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to engage in play and activities on the floor with children.
Work Environment:
  • Classroom setting.
This position is part of a unionized workforce under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Day Care Council of New York and Local 205, Community and Social Agency Employees Union.
