Job Summary

Nuvance Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our healthcare team to develop and implement effective treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare staff to develop and modify patient treatment plans
  • Provide detailed therapy, requiring significant independent judgment, for patients in intensive care
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests to measure lung capacity and blood acidity and alkalinity
  • Treat patients using oxygen or oxygen mixtures, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy
  • Connect patients who cannot breathe to a ventilator
  • Educate patients on how to use equipment and medication
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate from an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Care
  • Registry eligible or Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Graduate Respiratory Therapists considered, but at least 1 year of clinical experience in all aspects of Respiratory Care preferred
License and Certification
  • New York State license or permit
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through either American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
