Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Journeyman to join our team at the State of OK JD McCarty Center. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the physical environment of our pediatric rehabilitation hospital is in excellent condition for our patients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC and refrigeration systems, with experience in maintenance, repair, and installation. You will work closely with our Director of Building and Maintenance to troubleshoot systems, read and interpret schematics, and perform routine preventative maintenance.

In addition to your technical skills, you will also be responsible for supervising and training our construction/maintenance technicians, laborers, and groundskeeper. You will be expected to maintain a high level of safety awareness and follow all agency and department policy guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, repair, and install HVAC and refrigeration equipment
  • Work with consultants and suppliers on troubleshooting systems or equipment and system upgrades
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manufacturer's manuals, blueprints, sketches, and written instructions
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all HVAC and refrigeration equipment
  • Supervise and train construction/maintenance technicians, laborers, and groundskeeper
  • Inspect buildings, premises, and equipment to determine requirements for maintenance, replacement, construction, or renovation project
Requirements
  • Active licensure as a Mechanical Journeyman with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board
  • Five years of experience in skilled building trade or maintenance work involving the construction, maintenance, alteration and/or repair of buildings, grounds and utilities
  • Two years of supervising employees, or contractors in one of the fields listed above
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Valid driver's license
