As a Communication Specialist, you will play a crucial role in delivering speech therapy services and ensuring comprehensive documentation to support our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized therapy services as outlined in each child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and/or Treatment Plan.
- Maintain precise records and therapy logs to track student progress effectively.
- Collaborate in the development of annual IEPs and treatment plans tailored to the needs of students receiving speech-language services.
- Create supplementary materials and documentation that align with treatment objectives.
- Implement treatment plans based on students' documented strengths and needs, adhering to best practices.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes for students.
- Provide guidance and training to school staff and families regarding speech-language development and its relevance to educational success.
- Engage in IEP meetings and parent progress discussions.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as local policies, in all aspects of service delivery.
- Utilize formal and informal assessment tools competently.
- Organize and maintain therapy materials and environments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Competencies:

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Eligibility for licensure in Speech Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA is preferred.
- Experience with children with autism is highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A minimum of six months of full-time field experience.
- Understanding of special education principles and practices.
- Familiarity with assistive technology is a plus.
Language Proficiency:
Must be proficient in reading and speaking English, with the ability to interpret educational documents and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications, including Word and Excel, as well as familiarity with web-based systems used by LEARN Behavioral.
Work Environment:
The work environment is typical of a school setting, where reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The noise level is generally moderate.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for various tasks, and occasionally lift or move items up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities are necessary for effective performance.
