We are seeking a highly skilled Special Inspector to join our team at Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions. As a Special Inspector, you will be responsible for performing field inspections and construction materials testing to ensure conformance with construction plans and specifications.
About the Role:- Perform a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and inspection duties under general supervision.
- Operate testing equipment and conduct testing, providing an assessment of data through reporting.
- Work utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
- Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
- Read and Interpret Plans and Specifications.
- Maintain and calibrate standard equipment.
- Perform complex assignments.
- Attend project meetings.
- Makes detailed observations and gives the interpretation of results.
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
- Operate a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
- Communicates effectively with client and project teams.
- Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
- 5+ years of special inspection and/or construction materials testing experience is required.
- ACI Concrete I Certification required.
- APNGA Nuclear Gauge Safety Class Certification required.
- One or more of the following ICC Certifications required, with the associated SCLLR License:
- ICC Reinforcing Steel inspector.
- ICC Reinforced Concrete Masonry Inspector.
- ICC Soil Inspector.
- PTI Certified Post-Tension Inspector Level 1 & 2.
- External (or task related) certifications may be required based on region and state.
- Must have Basic Math, Calculator and Computer Skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
- Must be able to read and understand work plans.
- Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record (required).
