About Assets Protection at Target

Assets Protection (AP) teams at Target are responsible for keeping our guests, team members, and brand safe and secure. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing, investigating, and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guests.

As a Target Security Specialist, you will have the opportunity to develop skills in:

  • Intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure
  • De-escalation techniques and experience with recovering stolen merchandise to prevent shortage
  • Utilizing Target's video surveillance system
  • Properly documenting cases using industry case management systems

A typical day for a Target Security Specialist may include:

  • Welcoming and engaging guests and team members at the front of store
  • Leading a physical security culture for our team members and guests by assessing and maintaining safe and secure standards throughout the store, including exterior property
  • Responding to and accurately documenting security incidents
  • Conducting productive merchandise recoveries and providing apprehension support as needed, strictly adhering to AP policies and procedures and AP leadership guidance
  • Preventing theft and shortage at the front of store by performing receipt checks for exposed high-dollar merchandise
  • Submitting appropriate documentation in the system for all incidents following AP policy and procedures
  • Understanding and appropriately using the video system
  • Modeling working safely while maintaining a clean store for guests and team members
  • Complying with all safety policies and best practices

  • Scanning, handling, and moving merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays); Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
